Tenant Loans

Can you get some cash if you don't own your home?

Although some lenders advertise tenant loans, don't assume that mainstream lenders won't touch you: in most cases they're quite happy to lend you money. Of course you won't be able to apply for a homeowner loan, but there are plenty of personal loans at rock-bottom rates.

Do a quick Google search for tenant loans and you'll find all kinds of firms offering to give you cash, but that doesn't mean they're the best option: you'll find that most mainstream lenders are quite happy to provide tenant loans – although of course homeowner-only loans won't be on offer. Generally, lenders will consider almost anybody provided you're in full-time employment and that in their opinion you aren't overstretching your finances.
There's very little difference between tenant loans and normal personal loans – in fact, unsecured personal loans are usually available to homeowners, tenants and even people staying with their parents - although you could be in for a shock if you've recently moved to a new rented home as credit blacklists tend to apply to addresses rather than individuals. If you find yourself unfairly listed as a bad credit risk, ask the lender for details of their credit reference agency and contact them to correct any mistakes.
